However, she has also acted in films such as Mighty Joe Young in 1998, The Devil’s Advocate in 1997, The Legend of Bagger Vance in 2000, and The Italian Job and Monster, both in 2003 ( 2). Her character is a rebellious and head-strong woman that defies all obstacles to accomplish her goal of returning to her childhood home. This does tell me that he is a personality actor because his “strong personality” makes him a perfect fit for unnatural, and “creature-type” roles because he is able to dig deeper into his own animalistic, and crazy side to become “Beast” or “Nux” ( 1).Ĭharlize Theron plays the part of “Imperator Furiosa” in this film. Science fiction is the genre that comes to mind when I think of his acting abilities. It seems that there is a pattern of casting him in unnatural roles, or stylized roles. He is also known for playing the main character who happens to be a zombie in the 2013 Warm Bodies film ( 3). He played the role of “Beast” in the 2014 X-Men: Days of Future Past film. Nicholas Hoult played a villain’s minion turned good guy in Mad Max: Fury Road. He played the role of a gay hoodlum in the 2008 film RocknRolla ( 4).
He played the villain known as “Bane” in the 2012 The Dark Knight Rises, and also played “Shinzon”, the villain in Star Trek: Nemesis. I have to classify Tom Hardy as a character actor because he shows that he is “able to fit invisibly into a wide variety of disparate characters, adapting to the needs of each script and director” that he gets to work with ( 1). Tom Hardy has played many different character types, but there seems to be a consistency to his abilities. The actors that I will be analyzing are Tom Hardy (Mad Max), Nicholas Hoult (Nux), and Charlize Theron (Imperator Furiosa).
